- estimation tools for the transmittance, reflection, and absorption of CMB signal and for the emission of HWP itself, 06 Nov 2018 (Hiro)
- 20180926_loss_emission_v2.xlsx (revised on 8 Nov. 2018)
- tr_ave, ref_ave, abs_ave: band averaged transmittance, reflectance, and absorption
- P_tr, P_ref, P_abs: the power of CMB transmitted/reflected/absorbed by a HWP (integrated over the frequency range)
- P_th: the power of a HWP due to its thermal emission
- The assumptions are:
- single flat plate w/o AR
- frequency from 140 to 161 GHz
- considering only normal rays to the plate
- considering multiple reflection of thermal emission as well as CMB signal
- loss tangent is defined as the ratio of the imaginary part of the permittivity to the real part of the permittivity
- you can choose arbitrary values for thickness, loss tangent, the real part of a refractive index, and the HWP temperature
- if you adjust a refractive index to be ~1, it will corresponds to a nearly perfect AR case
- the columns G to J in the summary tab in Watts per square meter per steradian
- derivation (Hiro's note, may be hard to read...)
- a beam pattern incl. a HWP (Hiro)
- preliminary version (as of 21 Dec. 2018)
- comparison with GRASP, assuming an isotropic medium
- metal-mesh HWP simulation (just a playing)
- free ray tracing software
